A cold February

Hello everyone, it’s time for my monthly update.

I purchased some Cinestill df96 black & white monobath. I was hoping this would be a simpler way to develop black & white film at home. You simply mix the two powders together in water and it will develop your film around 16 times. So having only one solution to use makes things alot quicker!

On my first attempt I really messed up! Somehow light got into my makeshift dark room and ruined the film… I was sad about that because I had a few shots of a nice old Rolls Royce.

I tried again by using the changing bag. I still have difficulty winding the film onto the spool that goes into the developing tank. Somehow I got it done and everything else worked well with the df96 developer and fix. I was using Kentmere 400 film and since then I have done several rolls of film, all successful.

I bought another lens from MPB. A Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/2 VM - Leica M Fit. Since I have used it a few times , I think I prefer this more than a 35mm lens. It has been very useful to me.

Because everything has been so dark here I wanted to try using a flash with my camera. I found really good feedback on the Godox iM30. It is only £30 ish and first tests with it are pleasing!

This weekend I am trying out some newly launched film from Harman, its called Harman Red. It’s a Redscale film and makes everything look like it was shot on Mars. I’ve seen some results from others, and this film looks really good!

I’ve uploaded more photos to my portfolio, please have a look!

I’m looking forward to brighter days in March. I have some medium format film that needs to be used sooner rather than later. I do have a subject in mind to use for that, watch this space…

Thanks for reading this post and take care everyone.
